You are wrong if you think that exercise is just for maintaining a fit body. Exercise has a lot of other benefits to the mind as well as the body.
To keep up with our bodies’ basic activities like breathing and blood circulation, we need a specific amount of energy. Other activities that are not part of the bodies’ basic function will require more energy that will come from carbohydrates and fat deposits from the muscles, liver and blood. This additional energy needed will come from exercise.
Exercises like running, swimming or cycling strengthens the heart, controls the weight and lowers the blood sugar. Exercise will provide the body with more energy and an increase in the amount of oxygen in the muscles. Regular exercise will develop your stamina and lower your stress levels. Exercise also promotes fat loss and decrease appetite. That is why athletes can consume more calories on a daily basis, yet their bodies remain slim.
The benefits of exercise are not temporary. Keeping a consistent workout will make your muscles grow stronger as you age and you will also live longer than other people with a sedimentary lifestyle.
