Physical fitness comprises two related concepts: general fitness (a state of health and well-being) and specific fitness (a task-oriented definition based on the ability to perform specific aspects of sports or occupations).
Achieving the first concept, general fitness, is composed of 5 components that are essential in achieving a fit and healthy body. Below are the 5 basic components of physical fitness.
1. Setting Goals
A personal physical fitness routine can often end in disaster when an individual fails to set personal goals, with the intent of training towards their achievement. The number one priority in physical fitness is to orient oneself with the true desires in regularly practicing a fitness routine, and further training in a way that allows the desired goals to reasonably be accomplished in an allotted time frame.
2. Nutrition
As stated in previous lessons, fitness training is of no use without the implementation of proper dietary technique, and further practice in daily nutritional habits that are oriented towards the previously noted fitness goals. Fitness training will only deteriorate the body if proper nutrition is not regularly followed.
3. The Set Schedule
A schedule for fitness routines including specific days and times is essential in ensuring success towards your fitness goals. Without a dedicated routine, it is too easy to side step a workout or two and then suddenly realize you have actually strayed completely from your schedule. This leads to disappointment and quitting.
4. Training with Weights
Any man or women is already committed to a regular fitness routine and is physically fit can implement a weight lifting routine to their physical fitness schedule. This exercise can benefit both sexes as it increases the metabolic rate during periods of rest, resulting in an increase of calories burned in a day.
5. Cardiovascular Training
In conjunction to weight training, no fitness enthusiast should ignore the amazing benefits noted in cardio training, whether it is running, biking, jogging, or MMA. The heart remains the most vital organ in the body, and should be treated as such. Beyond the factors of physical and internal health, cardio training further allows heavy reduction in body fat, and allows the regular practicing enthusiast to look great, perform even better, and feel better than he or she has ever felt before.
Always remember: To stay healthy, it’s important to participate in physical activity!
