Why You Overeat; 4 Ways You Can Stop

Some people tend to overeat when they are stressed, anxious, frustrated and bored.  Emotions can make us eat that leads to overeating.  Overeating can lead to weight gain and other diseases.  Here are some tips on how you can avoid and stop eating too much.

* Change your beliefs and your way of thinking.  When you indulge by having 1 or 2 handfuls of potato chips, you’d probably say that you might as well eat the whole bag.  Other examples would be the way you blame yourself and your weight when something wrong happens like not getting promoted.  Stop doing this and begin to identify and change what you say to yourself as well as what you see in yourself.
* Use imagery to elevate your mood when you’re not in a good mood.  Find a private place where you can relax for at least 20 minutes.  Imagine a relaxing place or think of the good memories you have in the past.  Don’t let the negative things in.
* Exercise regularly.  Research indicates that exercise may be as effective as prescription drugs in helping to lift depression.  Regular and vigorous exercise causes the brain to release endorphins, a feel good chemical that are natural tranquilizers and mood lifters.
