Top 5 Ways To Stay Warm In The House During Winter

Have you noticed that your electricity bills increased this winter season? That is so because your electric heaters are working for long hours this time of the year. To save money, maintain warmth in your home through these five tips.

1. Drinking warm beverages like tea, coffee, or hot chocolate can raise the body temperature up temporarily, and you would not feel as cold. Having spicy food would have a similar effect.
2. The insulated effect can be achieved easily if you wear different layers of clothing. A warm skin-fitting shirt or thermal wearing underneath your normal clothes is a good option to stop cold getting into your body. Most people feel cold if their neck and ears are not covered. However, generally feet get cold very easily, so better to cover them by wearing socks, and hairy slippers. You will always feel cozy if your feet are covered properly.
3. Sun is a rich source to keep the house warm. Most of us do not take advantage of the sunlight. If your house has had a good amount of sunlight through windows all the day long, you will feel a difference in the room temperature. The ones that would get sunshine will be less cold and damp than those that do not get any sunlight at all.
4. Bare floors are not only cold, but also give the delusion of cold. It would be better to throw some carpets, or a few floor cushions around the fireplace. It would give your eyes a warm effect, and keep your feet warm as well.
5. Using hot water bottles is a great and cheap way to keep warm. It works especially well in bed, instead of keeping the heater on for the whole night. It is also quite safe as long as one does not intentionally pullout the plug. The bottle stays warm for a reasonable amount of time. Use of an electric blanket is another cheap and foolproof way of keeping warm during the night. Getting one with dual controls would work best.
