It is imperative that you stay awake at work lest you get fired.  With the many expenses of every family nowadays, no one can survive without a paycheck unless she’s an heir of some million-dollar company.  But the rich are few; many are on the average-earning ground if not below average.  So for most of us who cannot afford to lose our jobs, let us invest in our health by taking healthy measures to stay awake while on duty.

Ditch the coffee habit or anything else that’s super high in sugar.  Their effects are short-term and the risk of developing substance dependency is high with these types of wake-uppers.  Not only…

How do you adhere to a “shake” diet? This article will teach you.

If you take a slimming shake and eat the same amount of food as you would on your regular diet, then you are doing something terribly wrong.  And that will explain why you are not losing weight at all.  Worse, you must even be doubling your weight.

First, you have to understand that shakes are meal-replacements.  So if you drink shakes and eat full meals, you end up doubling your calorie intake.

Shakes are not magic potions.  They are not anti-fat agents or metabolism accelerators, so don’t expect that they would work that way.  We repeat: shakes are meal-replacements.  You…

There is a new way to manage your weight and prevent metabolic syndrome: chow down licorice!

A new study claims licorice oil boosts weight-loss, but sitting around all day popping licorice nips won’t do the trick.

Researchers believe licorice oil boosts energy expenditure at a cellular level, resulting in a drop in body fat and weight, says in the journal Obesity Research & Clinical Practice.

Compared to a placebo group, study participants who took licorice oil, lost more body fat and weight, and scientists believe the weight-loss was not associated with any reduction in the amount people ate.

Scientists say in order for licorice oil to work you need to choke down 900 mg…

A lot of diseases have “sedentary lifestyle” as one of their major precipitating factors.  Does that mean that as many as 50 million Americans are at risk for most diseases?  We guess so.  Sedentary lifestyle increases the risk of health problems and even early death.  Looks like we have plenty of candidates here, huh?

Steven Blair, a researcher, called Americans’ physical inactivity “the biggest public health problem of the 21st century.”  He was the one who stated that sedentary lifestyle has drastic effects to one’s health—in a negative way.

25 percent to 35 percent of American adults are inactive, according to research.  It could be because of their sedentary jobs, lack of…

Last week, TIME Magazine has caused big hullabaloo when they published the article, “Why Exercise Won’t Make You Thin.” Since then, the article has been the talk of the town and has set fire to discussions and debates in blogs, talk shows, and who knows, maybe even in the streets and your own homes.

Here, we will briefly explain why this piece of literature should not be taken seriously by serious health buffs and fitness freaks.  We shall set the record straight about exercise and weight loss once and for all.

You might be wondering why such kind of article managed to find its way to the pages of such a respectable…

Do you easily get tired when you are exercising?  We recommend that the next time you go to the grocery store, head to the beverage section and go get yourself some beetroot juice.

It has just been discovered through a small study in UK that drinking beetroot juice before exercising could improve your stamina.  The research was led by the University of Exeter, and involved eight men, aged 19 – 38. The men performed a series of cycling tests on exercise bikes, after six consecutive days of drinking:

* 500mls a day of organic beetroot juice

* 500mls a day of a placebo, blackcurrant cordial

After drinking beetroot juice, the group was able to…

You go to the gym to get rid of your belly fats, work your way to toned arms and hamstrings, and get on the treadmill to burn extra calories.  Now you have your dream to-die-for figure; the only problem is your sagging face.  Well, pick up the long face from the ground and smile at the “Face Trainer.”  Finally, a spark of hope for the facially challenged!

What do football players have in common?  Let’s enumerate them: big “bods”, countless hours in the gym, and even more countless glasses of protein shakes to gain weight.  Well, they would really need to work on the right body built in such a heavy sport as football, especially for “skill” position players like running backs.

Can you imagine a baby elephant trying to break off an 80-yard run?  What a poor sight it must be.  Ever saw a 320 pound lineman pick up a loose ball and stumble 10-yards, before being tackled by a 180 pound safety?

Lendale White, a chronically chunky Tennessee Titans running back, has just quit drinking to cut…

PETA seems to have run out of ways to save the whales.  Now they are urging obese people to go vegetarian by comparing the weight of meat-eaters to that of vegetarians.

Their new message is to “Save the Whales” by giving up meat if people would choose to lose weight.

In their official press release PETA said, “Anyone wishing to achieve a hot “beach bod” is reminded that studies show that vegetarians are, on average, about 10 to 20 pounds lighter than meat-eaters.”

Well, if they just want to save the whales, why don’t they just say, “Don’t eat whales,” and let people enjoy their fried chicken and beef steak, right?

We don’t know…

Ice cream is a common comfort food to people who are stressed out.  But there are many other comfort foods, and they are usually the ones high in calories (read: cakes, chocolates, chips).  However, what you don’t know is that those foods can make you feel even more stressed out.  How? By making you fatter! Now that’s stressful, isn’t it?

Experts believe that stress has a nasty little side effect to our bellies, and these are called belly fats.  Belly fats, in turn, increase the risk of heart disease.  Wow, this is more stressful than we thought.

Fats, in great numbers, can build up around your gut and lead to accumulation of…
