Get More From Your Workout With These 10 Fitness Tips

Just the thought of getting up and working out leaves many people feeling exhausted. I know, because I am one of them. Working out does not have to be all boring and sweating, try doing variations and couple it with the following fitness tips that will surely make you enjoy both the experience and the body you’ll soon be sporting.

1. Just Dance.

If you are bored with your regular workout routine, try something new. Find a class in your area or buy the DVD and dance off the pounds at home.

2. Water Works.

Work out with fan paddles and water dumbbells and tone your arms, chest and core muscles without breaking into a sweat. Check with your local fitness center, community swimming pool or YMCA for more information on water aerobics.

3. Melt Stress with Martial Arts.

Tai chi is a martial art that combines stability and strength building movements with a focus on reducing stress and tension. Not only is it relaxing, but it also burns a fair amount of calories.

4. Stretch it Out.

Prevent soreness and possible injury by stretching properly before and after a workout. Stretching for 5 to 10 minutes will warm up your muscles and prepare your body for a workout.

5. Jump into Cardio.

Jumpstart your cardio routine and burn calories the way boxers do. Jumping rope is cost-effective, totally portable, and is an indoor-or outdoor activity.

6. Stay in Shape with Water.

Drinking water before, during and after a workout will prevent dehydration, muscle fatigue, and possible injury. Don’t bother with sports drinks or “energy” drinks that contain added sugar or caffeine.

7. Buddy Up.

Having a workout buddy can make your workout more interesting and keep you motivated. Find a neighbour to walk with in the evenings after work, or a pal to lift weights with at the gym.

8. Play Around.

Organized team sports are a great way to get fit with friends and family. Plan a game of baseball, football, or basketball to have fun and burn calories at the same time.

9. On the Ball.

Use a stability ball to tone core muscles and develop core strength. Swap out your desk chair for a stability ball at work and see results in no time.

10. Snooze.

Don’t forget to get plenty of rest. It is essential to get 8 hours of sleep at night to refresh your mind and body and prepare for your next workout.
